Eric Perry of Manchester calls his team Haunted in New England. He said legitimate investigators first try to find rational explanations for what a homeowner may be hearing. 

"When we go to a home, we look at the electrical system, we look at the heating system, we look at the pipes, all that stuff," he said. "We try to debunk it first before we say it's anything."

Perry said he had his first paranormal experience on a 6th-grade field trip to the House of Seven Gables in Salem, Mass. Lingering behind the rest of his class, he thought he saw a shadow move out of the corner of his eye. 

Then, he said, "As I stood there, I felt an icy touch on my shoulder, like a hand coming down on top of me, and I heard a voice come in my ear and say, 'Get out!'"

He bolted for the school bus, he said.

Perry, 49, started doing paranormal investigations nine years ago. Here's what he says to skeptics: "Come on out with us. Come on out and see."
